THE PSYCHOLOGY OF CAREER WEB™: Essential skills and Pillars for heightened Youth Work Readiness

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Making a decision about a future career can be daunting. As students move towards the end of secondary/high school education, it is important that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to make more informed decisions about their future careers. Students need to be aware of the pros and cons of different career options, engage in career readiness practices from an early stage, appreciate the expectations in work setting and use decision-making tools to make more informed decisions as they advance through all learning levels

The Psychology of Career Web™ (PCW) for students is an offshoot of our many years of scholarly research efforts and human capital consulting projects aimed at providing students with an understanding of how to navigate the complex world of career choices using principles embedded in psychology, neuroscience, education, sociology and changing labour market economics to provide insightful thematic ideas that should be reflectively considered when guiding the youth in subject and career choices.

Central to the idea and at the heart of the PCW Training is the opportunity it creates to help students build better self-awareness, educate students from an early stage on the web of interconnected elements that should be considered and scanned through for better life and career choices. In addition, it is focused on creating seamless school to work transition, development of Individual Development Plans that can be used going forward, discussions youth challenges while in school and how to tackle each challenge to make better goal and principle-oriented choices while in the university. The PCW seeks to share thought-provoking ideas on how to make tertiary education free of all vices so students can focus on activities that caters to their personal fulfilment, employability and value creation.

As evident in our research, high level of clarity of diverse constructs is an excellent precursor to helping students prepare better for the future. Such early clarity helps students avoid vices and behaviours capable of ruining their desired future. It also helps them understand how to play to their strengths, build the right attitudes to life, develop in-demand skills, pursue their true interests, take ownership of their learning activities, engage in career readiness practices from early stages and focus on economic value-oriented disciplines. These and more are at the center of The Psychology of Career Web Training
